Fabrics Remnants
Safety Pins
Sewing Needles
Threads
1/2-inch-wide elastic
Purchase Supplies
Choose fabric from remnants in a local fabric store, old clothes or any pieces of fabric that is 4 by 18 inches.
Choose a thread that goes with the fabric. Match the thread to the background color of the fabric. Purchase 1/4-inch elastic.
Prepare Supplies
Cut fabric into pieces that are 4 by 18 inches.
Cut an 8-inch piece of elastic for each.
Assemble
Fold fabric printed sides together lengthwise. When folded, the piece will measure 2 by 18 inches.
Sew 1/2 inch from edge, with a short, straight stitch.
Turn fabric tube right side out.
Pull elastic through and tie in a tight knot. Use a needle and thread to sew the knotted elastic so it will not pull apart.
Fold 1/2 of each end of fabric under, into the fabric tube, and iron.
Hand stitch the ends of the fabric together on the fold so the ends of the fabric are inside the tube.
